Longevity Medical Benefits

Hormone therapy has been shown to have a number of long-term medical benefits, including a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, all-cause mortality, osteoporosis, and mental deterioration—up to and including Alzheimer’s disease  [1].

What About all the risks I’ve Heard About?

The WHI Study: The 2000 Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) study was a large, randomized clinical trial that looked at the effects of hormone therapy on women’s health. The study was halted prematurely due to concerns about an increased risk of breast cancer and cardiovascular disease. However, the data from the WHI study has been criticized for being skewed and for not being a true representative of women starting to experience menopause.

In 2016, two of the original WHI researchers published a recanted statement:

“[After the WHI study] reluctance to treat menopausal symptoms has derailed and fragmented the clinical care of midlife women, creating a large and unnecessary burden of suffering.[1]”

In November 2025, HHS initiated the removal of that black box warning, and FDA finally approved the labeling changes to menopausal hormone therapy products in Feb 2026.

Women: Hormone therapy has been shown to have a number of long-term medical benefits, including a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, all-cause mortality, osteoporosis, and mental deterioration— up to and including Alzheimer’s disease, However, "No More Hot Flashes" is the favorite benefit of BHRT according to patients.

Is Hormone Therapy Right for Me?

Not all treatments require hormone therapy. However, we urge you to learn what changes to expect in your menopause transition and what you can do to lessen or even prevent these debilitating symptoms—before they impact you daily life and wellbeing.

At Long Life Med, as a Functional Medicine practice, we do a whole person approach by doing thorough assessment of your symptoms, medications, supplements, labs, history and lifestyle, instead of just focusing on one symptom or one lab or one medication at a time.

Schedule an appointment with one of our providers today to discuss if hormone therapy is right for you!

The price could go up to $400/month if it includes 3 hormones especially creams is the preferred administration method.  Injectables and pellets are preferred, as creams are more expensive and are inconsistent with administration.  Creams also require more expensive testing methods as hormones topically administered doesn’t show well on serum testing.

Ensuring Quality: Our Rigorous Vetting Process for Supplement and Compounding Pharmacies

In the ever-growing market of supplement and compounding pharmacies, and the extremely limited resources of the FDA,  ensuring product safety and efficacy is paramount.

Unfortunately, many pharmacies fall short, with products that either fail to meet their claimed contents or contain harmful substances like heavy metals.

There are a multitude of online pharmacies using loop-holes to provide unsafe products to the general public.

For example,  products labeled “Research Use Only” or “For Animal Use Only” are misleading because they do not meet FDA safety standards for human use.

If you have been searching for supplements, weight loss medications and hormone therapy, your social media feed might already be full of these pharmacies, so please be careful and read the fine print. Most of the time, you get what you pay for, and you need to be extra careful in what you put into your own body.

At our selected licensed pharmacies, we prioritize your health by adhering to stringent vetting processes, ensuring the products we use and recommend are safe, effective, and compliant with regulatory standards.

Thorough Vetting Process

Our commitment to quality begins with a comprehensive vetting process for all our supplement and compounding pharmacies. This process includes:

  1. Third-Party Supplement Verification:

      • We utilize trusted third-party testing organizations to independently verify the contents and quality of our supplements. Our sources employ rigorous tests to ensure that the products contain the ingredients listed on their labels, in the correct amounts, and are free from harmful contaminants like heavy metals. At the same time we always try to pass practical knowledge on to you. For example, Costco consistently has very favorable supplement reviews from third-party independent evaluations.
  2. FDA and State Licenses and Compliance:

      • We thoroughly check for FDA and State licenses and ensure that our pharmacies comply with all relevant FDA regulations. This includes adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to guarantee product safety and quality.
  3. Detailed Fine Print Review:

    • Our team meticulously reviews the fine print of company websites, all product claims and labels. This helps us identify any discrepancies or misleading information, ensuring transparency and trustworthiness in our products.

Comparison to Other Pharmacies

Many other supplement and compounding pharmacies do not meet these rigorous standards. Some common issues include:

  1. False Claims and Mislabeling:

      • Numerous pharmacies have been found to make false claims about their products. Independent testing often reveals discrepancies between the labeled and actual contents, which can lead to ineffective or even harmful supplements [PubMed] [Diatribe].
  2. Harmful Substances:

      • Heavy metals and other harmful contaminants are a significant concern. Products from unverified sources can contain dangerous levels of substances like lead, mercury, and arsenic, posing serious health risks [Consumer Reports].
  3. Misleading Research-Only Labels:

    • Some compounding pharmacies label their products as For “Research Use Only (RUO)” but still sell them to the general public. This practice is not only unethical but also potentially dangerous, as these products have not been verified for safety or efficacy in consumer use [FDA].

Peptides

Advancement in biotechnology in the last decade has unleased the full power of Peptide Therapies for a variety of conditions producing dramatic changes for patients.

    • PT-141 while often discussed for male erectile dysfunction (ED), it is officially FDA-approved for hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) in premenopausal women. It works by activating melanocortin receptors in the nervous system to increase sexual desire and libido.
    • Sermorelin is a peptide that stimulates the body to produce its own growth hormone and can have dramatic impacts on your body, including improved muscle mass & strength, enhanced recovery from workouts, improved sleep, reducing body fat while increasing energy, and anti-aging effects (reducing wrinkles & improving skin elasticity).
    • Semaglutide (brand name Ozempic or Wegovy or Rybelsus) or Tirzepatide (brand name Mounjaro or Zepbound) for diabetes and weight loss. Yes, those are also peptides.
    • BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound – 157) is a peptide derived from human gastric guice and has potent regenerative properties and healing wound, muscle, ligaments and tendon injuries, aside from helping heal the gut.
    • TB-500 is often used in combination with BPC-157 in a “Wolverine Stack” to enhance recovery, because of its  potent tissue repair and regenerative properties. It promotes wound healing, angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation), collagen deposition, and cell migration, particularly in muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
    • KPV is a potent, naturally occurring tripeptide (Lysine-Proline-Valine) is primarily used to treat gut inflammation (IBD, IBS, colitis) and “leaky gut”, skin conditions (acne, eczema, psoriasis), and to accelerate wound healing by modulating immune responses.
    • GHK-Cu (glycyl-l-histidyl-l-lysine) is a naturally occurring copper-binding peptide found in human plasma, saliva, and urine that promotes skin remodeling, collagen synthesis, wound healing, and anti-inflammatory effects

These are just a few of dozens of peptides available for various conditions.

You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

No, we don’t accept insurance, although you can still use your insurance to pay for some of your medications like hormones.
Most health insurances cover at least estrogen patches (generic only), and not the other hormones. So if you have allergies or prefer other methods and need other hormones or supplements, it’s still cash pay, and compounded creams are more expensive too (but still cheaper with our our wholesale pricing than you paying for it directly that’s why we bundle it so you save money).
Hormones are typically already included in our BHRT plans including the all the relevant labs, although we do adjust our pricing depending on the hormones and delivery (injection, pill, pellet, cream) and the appropriate discounts.
Initial and check-up labs are also included in the BHRT plans.

Yes, of course. Aside from the ones highlighted above, please check out our reviews on Google
Yelp, including the “not recommended” or hidden ones, and WebMD.

BHRT for Women starts at $300/month including labs & 2 hormones,
But might not need hormone therapy itself, as it could be something else, and you might be best taken cared of under the Functional Medicine under Preferred DPC plan

Consultations and coaching, including televisits and direct text messaging access to the provider are included with the plan.

Regular blood tests for baseline and monitoring (usually every 6 weeks until stable, then 3-4 months) are also included.

Up to 2 hormones and supplies (& pellet/s insertion procedure, if needed) are also included on the starter plan of $300/month, and it might be up to $400/month if you add another hormone that is not covered by insurance or if you need a compounded cream (e.g. you have allergies) that will also need a specialized (more expensive) test to monitor (as serum blood doesn’t detect hormones via creams accurately).

You also get 2 sessions per month of Full Body NIR & Red Light Therapy, and discounts to other retail items and services.
